Former Chief Justice of the Bermuda Supreme Court, Ian Kawaley was appointed to Bermuda’s Court of Appeal by Governor, Rena Lalgie, with the appointment to take effect in January 2023.
Mr Justice Kawaley served as the Chief Justice from 2012 to 2018. He has been an Assistant Justice of the Bermuda Supreme Court since that time as well as a Grand Court Judge in the Cayman Islands.
Kawaley He is well known not only for his contribution to Bermuda jurisprudence in terms of his delivered judgments but with his written works including Offshore Commercial Law in Bermuda and Cross-Border Judicial Cooperation in Offshore Litigation. He has a strong track record as a commercial judge and his appointment to the Court of Appeal represents continued strength on the Bermuda bench.
